Discover the Healing Power of CBD (Cannabidiol)

Here at Our Botanicals we are so excited to introduce Botana’s Organic CBD Spagyric Tincture to our store. While medical marijuana has a politically and emotionally charged history, the use of cannabis oil has been used medicinally for millennia with incredible health benefits.

In fact, researchers now laud CBD for its benign side effects and very low toxicity. So let’s learn about how our CBD Tincture is grown and some of the ways it can greatly increase your wellbeing.

First of all, you may be wondering what ‘Spagyric’ means. Well, you are not alone! The word come from Ancient Greek σπάω spao “I collect” and ἀγείρω ageiro “I extract”. In its original use, the word spagyric was commonly used synonymously with the word alchemy. However, in more recent times it has been used to describe an herbal medicine produced by alchemical procedures. Our CBD Tincture is formulated at The Spagyric Apothecary in Colorado, so let’s hear from them as to why they use this method of preparing the plant:

“We use a spagyric tincture because we feel it’s far better than a normal tincture. It more accurately represents the full spectrum of the plant and its constituents. A spagyric is a combination of a normal tincture, the oils, and the ash (mineral salt) of a plant. It’s far more potent than just the tincture alone.”

How Is It Grown?

The hemp grown to create our CBD Tincture is of the highest quality. The area where the farm is located boasts more organic farms per capita than anywhere else in the U.S. They have clean water, fresh air and rich soil. It is grown in biodiverse, multi species plant communities. In this style of farming the plants work together and some of them attract beneficial insects, or good bugs, and the good bugs eat the bad bugs. This is how they do their pest control, with no need for toxic pesticides!

The farm itself is a small boutique farm run a select team of conscious, ecological farmers who are dedicated to cultivating the highest quality hemp possible. Let’s learn from one of the farmers what this level of quality entails:

“By quality we mean, High Brix levels which translates to Nutrient and Mineral Density and maximum genetic potential. This in turn means better medicine.”

What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one of over 85 cannabinoids presently identified in the cannabis plant and is the second most abundant cannabinoid in marijuana after THC. CBD Tinctures are made from high-CBD, low-THC hemp, so because hemp contains only trace amounts of THC, it is non-psychoactive. Our Tincture has a base of organic grape alcohol.

What Are Some Of The Benefits Of CBD?

Natural Pain Relief

Evidence suggests that cannabinoids are effective in pain modulation as they inhibit neuronal transmission in pain pathways. A 2012 study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that CBD significantly suppressed chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain in rodents without causing analgesic tolerance.

Antipsychotic Effects

CBD has been shown to have similar effects to that of antipsychotic drugs in animal studies. Additionally, studies show that CBD prevents human psychosis and is effective in open case reports and clinical trials in patients with schizophrenia, with a high safety profile.

Anxiety Reducer

CBD has shown to reduce anxiety in patients with social anxiety disorder and researchers suggest that it may also be effective for panic disorder, OCD, social anxiety disorder and PTSD.

For those who suffer from social anxiety disorder a 2011 study aimed to compare the effects of a simulation public speaking test on healthy control patients and patients with social anxiety disorder. Twenty four patients with social anxiety disorder were given either CBD or placebo one and a half hours before the test.

Researchers found that those who took CBD enjoyed significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort during their speech performance, and significantly decreased alertness in anticipation of their speech. The placebo group presented their usual high levels of anxiety, cognitive impairment and general discomfort.
