How I Take Care Of My Skin in Winter
Here at Our Botanicals we are passionate about helping you achieve wellness all year round. We know that winter can be an especially trying time as temperatures drop and inside heaters reduce moisture from the air. Synthetic fabrics, steaming hot showers and less raw food can also exacerbate skin issues. As today is National Winter Skin Relief Day we decided to put together some tips and natural products that will help you take care of your skin during winter.
Be Gentle
If you have sensitive dry skin taking steaming hot showers or baths can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause inflammation. Opting for shorter, warm showers and gentle cleansers will help to soothe irritation rather than inflame it. Using natural moisturisers right after a shower while the air is still humid will also aid in locking moisture into the skin. Water moisturizes your skin, and lipids lock that moisture in. Here are some of our favourite natural salves, oils and creams that will nourish your skin and protect it from the harsh winter elements.
