What do you think about this long list of ingredients? We have combined some of nature’s most potent healing herbs in a base of soothing oils and beeswax to ease tight, knotted muscles.
Let’s take a closer look at three of the most interesting ingredients:
Skullcap Herb:
Skullcap Herb has a long history in both Native American and Chinese medicinal history. It had special significance in some Native American tribes. They used it in ceremonies to celebrate a young woman’s coming of age, as it promotes a healthy female reproductive system. Used topically as we are in our Deep Heat Ointment, Skullcap promotes quicker healing as it stimulates blood flow to the skin. It’s also an effective natural painkiller as it can reduce inflammation and aid in injury recovery. You can learn more about Skullcap here.
Plantain Leaf:
Plantain is often misrepresented as a weed, but it is actually a very valuable herb that has been used as a panacea for hundreds of years. It was one of the Saxon’s nine sacred herbs, Native Americans used it to treat stings, rashes and sores, and it’s said that Alexander the Great discovered and introduced it to Europe in 327 BC. You can eat it raw as it is beneficial for soothing kidney and bladder infections, but it’s also very soothing for external inflammation and is why it features in our Deep Heat Ointment! Plantain Leaf is fantastic at treating bites, stings, burns, eczema, rashes and even psoriasis and varicose veins. You can learn more about plantain leaf here.
Arnica Flower:
Arnica is mostly found in Siberia and Central Europe, but can also be found in some North American climates. Like Plantain Leaf, Arnica can also be consumed internally. However, it’s also fantastic for treating pain topically. Due to Arnica’s active chemicals it decreases pain and helps to reduce swelling from bruises and sprains. It can also be beneficial for chapped lips and acne. You can learn more about Arnica here.
