Studies reveal that these compounds are protective of the heart, naturally increase circulation, and possess antitumor, anti-epileptic, antiulcer, antispasmodic, and antidiabetic effects.
How Moringa is Healing the World
In 2008 the National Institute of Health called Moringa (moringa oleifera) the “plant of the year,” acknowledging that “perhaps like no other single species, this plant has the potential to help reverse multiple major environmental problems and provide for many unmet human needs.” Moringa is an important food source in some parts of the world because it can be grown quickly, inexpensively and easily. Because the leaves retain much of its vitamins and minerals when dried, moringa is used in India and Africa in feeding programs to fight malnutrition.
Ayurvedic Uses of Moringa
Long before Moringa benefits were being studied in scientific settings, it was used extensively in traditional medicine practices like Ayurvedic medicine for over 4,000 years. The traditional uses for Moringa include; “tired blood” (anemia), arthritis and other joint pain, asthma, C#nc#r, constipation, insulin issues, diarrhea, epilepsy, stomach pain, stomach and intestinal ulcers, intestinal spasms, headache, heart problems, high blood pressure, kidney stones, fluid retention, thyroid disorders, and bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections.
Moringa is also used to reduce swelling, increase sex drive (as an aphrodisiac), prevent pregnancy, boost the immune system, and increase breast milk production. Commonly people use it as a nutritional supplement or tonic.
